MODERNIST ARCHITECTURE
8 June 2023 •9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Join us for a one-day excursion outside of Paris, dedicated to exploring the modernist architectural heritage.
First, we will visit the Maison Louis Carré, a residential building in the south-west of Paris, designed by the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto for art collectors. This remarkable structure showcases Aalto’s distinctive style and approach. We will have the opportunity to explore its unique features and appreciate its architectural significance during a private guided tour in english exclusively for our group.
Next on our itinerary is the Villa Savoye in Poissy – a modernist manifesto by Le Corbusier. This iconic building is the last in Le Corbusier’s white villa cycle and perfectly encapsulates the Modernist architectural vocabulary. Abandoned, it was restored by the French state from 1963 to 1997. It was listed as a historic monument in 1964 when Le Corbusier was still alive, an extraordinarily rare occurrence.
Between the 2 visits, we will take the time for a gastronomic break and have lunch in the former hunting lodge of Louis XIV in the heart of a 4-hectare wooded park.
Please note that transportation will be provided in a van departing from Paris, and lunch is included.
Limited number of places. Please register before the 1st of June.
