Mathieu Lehanneur, the all-embracing designer
Mathieu Lehanneur is an influencer, and not only in the world of design. His “magic touch” and vast know-how extends to lifestyle, technology & natural elements amongst others. He is ranked among the top 100 designers in the world and has spoken at TED conferences on design inspired by science.
His creations form part of the collections of the most important museums in the world. His temporary installations (Ocean Memories -Acqua Alta in Venice, The l’Horizon des Particules at Villa Noailles) or perennial projects (Liquid marble at Château de Chaumont, Air France Balcon Business Lounge at CDG) make us question the world around us and have received much praise and attention.
In January 2020, Mathieu spoke during our French Collection event at Piasa and put our guests under the spell of his humor and talent. On that occasion, he shared with us his creative process and presented some of his latest projects ranging from his Inverted gravity collection to a church or a palliative care service.
Natural elements are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for him, almost an obsession for which he is ready to capture the material and carry out months and months of research, surrounded by the best craftsmen.
Mathieu uses both traditional know-how and the most modern technologies, so the objects he designs seem to pass from the inert to the living world.
The spontaneity of the attraction for an object is essential for him. He has just opened a showroom in New York, which is a kind of a test apartment where he can share the spirit and communicate the history of his pieces to his clients.
