Pierre Soulages at the Louvre
Until 9 March 2020
A major figure in abstract painting, Pierre Soulages has just celebrated his 100th birthday and continues to paint at a steady pace.
On this occasion, the Louvre Museum arranges a retrospective of his works. This is an exceptional event – before Soulages, only Chagall and Picasso were able to benefit from the retrospectives in honor of their 90th birthday. The exhibition traces the chronology of the artist’s work from 1946 to the present day, using carefully selected works illustrating eight decades of Soulages’ creative research.
The exceptional longevity of artist’s career is illustrated by a selection of his main works from the largest French and foreign museums. The exhibition will also allow you to see his large paintings created in recent months.
